Hitch on New Avengers

So all of the excitement about Bryan Hitch doing a variant cover for New Avengers maded me curious to see if I could get my hands on an image of said cover. I did. Here it is.

Of course, there are those that aren't impressed.

"These alternative covers don't do much for me. But then again I don't think I'm the target market here."

"I love Hitch's artwork, but it's a very sad day for comics when the speculation is about who the alternate cover artist is..."

"I couldn't said it better myself. All this fuss over a cover means jack shit if the comic isn't any good. I'd rather have a blank cover with a great story than some alternate shiny cover with average story. I love art like the next guy but please, its not an oil painting. Just a book cover."

Me? Eh, the alternate New Avengers cover's aight. I actually expect better from Hitch.

And why is Cap's shield so freaking small?

In other news concerning The Ultimates, Millar reveals the line-up for The Ultimate Defenders.



"Cheers, mate. Buzz on this issue seems to be very strong. I just got back from England last weekend and saw Hitchy's art for issue five (HUGE fight with someone you might not expect) and I think it's going to put the book right over the top. Hitchy's just is the absolute best at this kind of stuff. Nobody can touch him.

Also saw the art for The Defenders (issue six) and it's fantastic. They're just this really shitty team one of the Ultimates ends up in and they're comprised of Hellcat, Darkhawk, Luke Cage, Son of Satan, Black Knight and someone I can't tell you about yet. But it's a lot of fun and quite a change of pace.

It's still hard for me to believe that Darkhawk (of all characters!) is making a comeback...
