A comic about cancer

Cartoonist Brian Fies has produced a remarkable webcomic about his mother's battle with metastatic lung cancer. Fies says the comic, titled simply Mom's Cancer, "focuses on how a serious illness can affect patient and family, both practically and emotionally, in ways that I've discovered are very common. Many readers have written to tell me how surprised and gratified they were to learn they weren't alone."

Until today, Fies preferred to remain anonymous, to protect his family's privacy. Now that the comic is complete, he's gone public: The Pulse posted Jen Contino's interview with Fies just today. Anyone whose life has been touched by cancer -- and that means all of us -- should check it out.
