The Week at the Great Curve
Week 2 of The Great Curve's affectionate emulation of Tom Spurgeon continues; as I myself am still gritting my teeth nervously over the announcement that Stuart Moore will be moving in as Dan Jolley's replacement writing Firestorm. It was as tumultuous a week as any in the comics industry, as evidenced by this week's top stories.
The biggest news of the week was undoubtedly Stan Lee's victory in court, where it was decided that Marvel must indeed pay him a sizable 10% hunk of change from their movie profits from projects such as the Fantastic Four film, whose trailer is now online. Thankfully, the new Elektra movie, which is now in theaters, is fairly well done, unlike this disturbing photo we saw. Tom Spurgeon followed up with well explained analyis of the entire Lee/Marvel situation for others like myself who lost complete track of where this ordeal was at. He then went an extra mile and talked to Lee's lawyer for an inside scoup. As soon as my head quit spinning from trying to construct a timeline of all this stuff in my head though, there was at least this incredible piece featuring a photo of Nick Cage to inspire well needed belly laughter.
I continue to be unabashedly optimistic about Allen Heinberg's Young Avengers series, which Marvel released 8 pages of for public consumption. Damien, I've got your back.
Also. Yes. Lee Weeks is awesome. Now surf on, Curve Cadets.
