"...the ones with their hands out to hug you are the important ones"

I'd never heard of Doug Miers before I read this CBR piece by George A. Tramountanas. Miers, who died from a heart attack in late January 2005 at the age of 42, had been writing comics since the late 1980s.

Tramountanas made me care about Miers' work, despite the fact Miers wrote books I probably would never have picked up typically.

Every time some golden age or silver age great passes, there is a great deal of attention paid. I wonder how many present day creators pass on without us ever knowing?

Be sure to read the piece, and not to spoil the end, but Tramountanas closed on a fine note [about life in general, not comics], quoting Miers: "Everyone has their hands out, but the ones with their hands out to hug you are the important ones."
