Can't Wait for Saturday (Part 1)

X-Men/Runaways, Scott Pilgrim, Superman/Batman, Viper Comics Presents ... whether you're looking for mainstream or alternative, to sample new material or enjoy old favorites, Free Comic Book Day should be right up your alley.

The cast of The Great Curve (and maybe some special guests) will be back tomorrow with a list of what we're looking forward to on Saturday, but for now, here's a list of events, signings, media coverage and other goodies associated with Free Comic Book Day.

Thompson/Azz -- Amazing Fantasy, 20523 S. La Grange Road, welcomes Jill Thompson and Brian Azzarello.

Los Angeles, California

Brian K. Vaughn -- Writer Brian K. Vaughn will be signing comics at Meltdown, 7522 Sunset Blvd. More info

New Port Richey, Florida

At Yancy Street Comics -- Many top-name creators, including Ethan Van Sciver and Ron Marz, will be at 6843 State Road 54.

Newark, Delaware

Captain Blue Hen takes flight -- Captain Blue Hen Comics at 280 E. Main Street welcomes many creators, including Buzzboy artist John Gallagher. The Captain Blue Hen mascot appears in the FCBD issue of Buzzboy. More info

Overland Park, Kansas

Elite Comics -- Located at 11842 Quivira Road, Elite Comics welcomes Tony Moore, B. Clay Moore and many more (heh).

Portland, Oregon

Cosmic Monkey Comics -- at 10227 NE Clackamas St., where Colleen Coover, Jeff Parker and several other creators will be joined by stormtroopers and other Star Wars characters. More info

Derenick/Coffee -- Tom Derenick and Justin Coffee will appear at Comics on the Green, 417 Linden St. More info

Seattle, Washington

Ortega/Layman -- Joshua Ortega and John Layman will be signing copies of their work from 12-2pm at the Comics Dungeon in Seattle, Washington. More info

Sherman Oaks, California

Earth 2 Comics -- Earth 2 Comics & Collectibles will welcome Mark Waid, Chris Yost and a ton of other guests. More info
