Peter David climbs the Dark Tower

Marvel announced via press release that Peter David will script the upcoming Dark Tower comic book:

“You have to understand: To me, it was yesterday that I was standing on line at a Stephen King book signing, telling him that I was an aspiring writer, and he inscribed a copy of ‘Danse Macabre with ‘To Peter: Best of luck on your writing career.’ Since then I’ve had a great deal of luck, and this opportunity is—by me—one of the luckiest breaks of them all,” says David. “I’m extremely excited to be a part of such a highly anticipated project, and am looking forward to contributing however much I can to King’s epic fantasy. I just wish I could go back and tell the kid on the autograph line; he probably wouldn’t believe it.”

Peter David comments about the gig on his blog, in a post aptly titled "King David": Marvel has now made public the news that I've been sitting on for quite some time: I'm going to be doing the scripting for the Stephen King "Dark Tower" comics that Marvel will be producing. I'm tremendously excited about the opportunity, not to mention jazzed that King was willing to entrust his baby to me. Plus it's great to be working with Jae Lee again.

The first issue is scheduled to debut in February 2007.
