Fashion In Action

Adam Kubert's variant cover for Wonder Woman v. 3 #1 depicts all four generations of Wonder Women and Girls. However, while the rest of you are speculating on what this means for Hippolyta (alive?) and Donna Troy (not promoted?), something else occurred to me.

The current Wonder Girl is blonde, and the only other blonde Wonder Woman was Cathy Lee Crosby (in a 1974 TV-movie soon eclipsed by Lynda Carter's version). Now, I know that Cassie's costume is meant to be closer to current styles than her predecessors' outfits, but fashion, like superhero comics, loves nostalgia. Bell-bottoms came back, and if the rest of the '70s isn't far behind, how long will it be until the DC stylebook has Cassie wearing this?

I swear, sometimes DC does homages without even realizing it....

P.S. Check out Earth-462 (I think that's right -- it's not in front of me now) in Infinite Crisis #6. The colors are off, but that's her.

Writing this post this morning, I had no idea about that cameo. I feel like Gardner Fox....
