MTV loves Alba

MTV announced the nominees for their annual MTV Movie Awards today, with several comic book flicks getting nods and Jessica Alba getting three nominations for her comic book movie work.

Both Sin City and Batman Begins were nominated for Best Picture, along with The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Wedding Crashers and King Kong. Jessica Alba, Ioan Gruffudd, Chris Evans & Michael Chiklis received a nomination for Best On-Screen Team for Fantastic Four. Alba also received a Sexiest Performance nod for her work in Sin City, while Rosario Dawson & Clive Owen were nominated for Best Kiss. Alba brought home another nomination for Best Hero for her role as the Invisible Woman, a category in which she'll compete against Batman Begins' Christian Bale. The lone comic-inspired bad guy to make the "Best Villain" list was Cillian Murphy, who played the Scarecrow in "Batman Begins."

As they tend to do every year, MTV focused more on popular popcorn flicks like The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Batman Begins and Wedding Crashers, while Oscar favorites like Crash and Capote didn't make the list and Brokeback Mountain only received a couple of nominations.
