Legion of SH cartoon confirmed for The CW
The Beat points us to a story in MediaWeek on The CW's Saturday morning schedule for next fall, which will feature some old WB favorites and a certain futuristic super team:
The new Kids WB! five-hour, Saturday morning block airing on CW this fall will include three new series from Warner Bros. Animation and a new group of programs that comply with the government’s children’s education initiative.
Gone will be longtime Kids WB! staples Pokémon and Yu-Gi-Oh!, both which have been falling steadily in the ratings.
The three new series will be Legion of Super Heroes, based on the DC Comics characters, Shaggy and Scooby-Doo Get a Clue!, and Tom and Jerry Tales. The block will kick off at 7 a.m. with a “Pillow Head” hour made up of educational programming. Kids WB! will announce at a later date shows that appear in that hour. The net has tapped a kids programming media advisor to help select programs that meet the federal requirements. Kids WB! will also offer the TV premiere of Monster Allergy, a half-hour show based on the comic book series and produced by Rainbow S.r.l., but it will not be part of the Pillow Head hour.
The CW, of course, is the mega-network formed when the WB and UPN did the whole Ronnie Raymond/Dr. Stein-like merger thing earlier this year. While the Legion cartoon announcement is good news, I'll sleep better once I know that Veronica Mars is safely planted on their schedule ...
Oh, and if you're curious about Monster Allergy, check out the official site. The comic is published in Italy by Buena Vista Comics, which is owned by Disney, and was created by the same team who created W.I.T.C.H. I guess animation deals make for strange bedfellows.

The Legion show is not a Justice League Unlimited spinoff. In fact, it will have (supposedly) nothing to do with the JLU episode - different characters (like Clark "Superboy" Kent instead of Supergirl), different creative staff, different animation style (think more Teen Titans than the Timm-verse), etc. I guess you could say it's a rebooted animated Legion.
Keeping track of all the Legion-related announcements isn't too terribly hard since there are so few announcements to begin with, but if you're interested I maintain the Legion Omnicom for all your 31st century news, in print or on the small screen.
Grife! It would have helped if I said where it is: http://adventure247.blogspot.com.
Thanks Michael. I took out the JLU reference and changed the image!

But will the CW have poofy sleeves?
