The Week at the Curve

It's the return of our regular "week in review" feature, back from an extended vacation! And it was definitely anything but boring last week here at The Great Curve ...

Brian Warmoth brought a lot of traffic to the site, as he highlighted the recent Wall Street Journal article on product placement in comics. He then followed that post up with one on Stephanie Chan’s discovery that the New X-Men panel used as an example of product placement in the WSJ's story didn’t actually make it into the comic. The art director for the Wall Street Journal left a comment to explain what happened, and the WSJ later added a “Corrections & Amplifications” to the story in question.

We posted health updates on two comic creators, Alex Toth and Bob Burden, who we hope to see back behind the drawing board soon. And we learned of the passing of Dick Rockwell, comic strip/comic book artist and nephew of Norman Rockwell.

Last week also saw several members of the TGC team share their views on what’s coming up in July for DC, Marvel, Image and Dark Horse ... that’s a lot of comics. If you’re interested in comics that are actually out now, Chris Hunter filled in for me on our regular Can’t Wait for Wednesday feature, where the overwhelming favorite comic of the week was Nextwave (it would have been my pick as well, if I’d been around).

Shane Bailey's Meanwhile ... column highlighted, among other things, the crazy things people do to peeps.

Our long-neglected MySpace page got a little bit of attention this week (mostly housekeeping stuff). Check it out and add us as a friend!

And lastly, some other housekeeping news ... The Great Curve bids farewell to two of our own, Brian Warmoth and Hisham Zubi, who leave us for greener pastures. Both have been contributing to the Curve for quite some time and will definitely be missed. Take care, guys!
