"Who said reading comics doesn't pay off?"
And so, as usual, my buddy Alex Segura Jr. finds the perfect words to sum up garnering his "dream job": Publicity Manager for DC Comics.
As you may or may not have noticed, I've not been blogging here at TGC as of late. Quite honestly, I haven't needed to--what with the great talent Segura and John Parkin have lured here in the past several months.
I immensely respect Alex Segura. That's not something I say about many people in the comic book industry, particularly on the journalism side.
And I appreciate what his presence has added to the industry. So that's why I actually have ended my self-imposed comic blogging silence at least for one post.
There have been myriad comic book press releases sent to me over the years. And many of them, written by folks without aid of a spell checker or even a lick of common sense, have been permanently condemned by the Pavlovian-like delete response zone that resides in my keyboard typing fingers.
I'm happy to say DC Comics publicity has never triggered by itchy delete trigger fingers. OK, when the earthquake hit Gotham, I had moments of temptation...oh never mind.
Bottom line, DC's scored a good guy and I look forward to seeing what achievements lie ahead for Alex Segura Jr. I look forward to not being able to get Alex to reply to my e-mails because he has more important, pressing matters. I look forward to being able to drop his name in conversation and impressing people, because my self-esteem is that pathetic. But seriously, like the comic books I so love, it's nice to see one of the good guys win.
Congrats, Alex, from all of us at TGC.
