Can't Wait for Wednesday ... um, Thursday
We're starting a new weekly feature here at The Great Curve, one we're hoping our readers will participate in every Monday ... or Tuesday, as the case may be during holiday weeks like this one. (Leave it to me to launch a new feature named after the most important day of the week--Wednesday, A.K.A. New Comic Book Day--during a week comics don't even arrive on Wednesday).
The idea is simple ... just tell us what you plan to get at your local comic shop (or via mail order) this week, and what one book you're looking forward to the most. You can consult Diamond's shipping list to find out what comics will hit U.S. shops this week.
There are several new series kicking off with the new year -- Exterminators from Vertigo, and Doc Sampson and Sable & Fortune minis from Marvel. If you're jonesin' for Infinite Crisis action, the Day of Vengeance special may be up your alley. The latest issue of Doc Frankenstein will also arrive, finally.
The comic I'm most looking forward to, however, is Marvel Zombies #2. As a fan of Robert Kirkman's Walking Dead series, I can say that Marvel Zombies is nothing like his Image series, except for that fact that both feature zombies. MZ #1, however, did feature a lot of dark and twisted humor, as well as scenes you never thought you'd see in a Marvel comic, like Captain America holding a piece of his own brain and a leg bone popping out of the Hulk's stomach when he turns back into Bruce Banner. The Silver Surfer showed up at the end of the last issue, which hopefully foreshadows the coming of Zombie Galactus.
Here's what else I'm getting:
Day Of Vengeance Infinite Crisis Special
Exterminators #1
Jonah Hex #3
JSA #81
Outsiders #32
Seven Soldiers Frankenstein #2
Teen Titans #31
Y The Last Man #41
Godland #6
Doc Samson #1 (Maybe)
Sable & Fortune #1 (Maybe)
Sentinel Vol 2 #3
Supreme Power Nighthawk #5
Doc Frankenstein #4
What about you?

Heh. Very similar lists. I'm also getting Y: The Last Man and Runaways in trade paperbacks.
I knew I wasn't the only one who thought that Marvel Zombies ws way more fun than it really had any right to be.
It's just the right amount of revolting and hilarious, with a small smattering of pathos to boot.
