Dixon starts comic imprint with Shooting Star Comics

In other, non-Alex sucks news, Chuck Dixon has teamed with Shooting Star Comics to release some of his work:

Chuck Dixon is joining Shooting Star Comics to launch his own line of comic book projects beginning in 2006. Dixon was instrumental in being the catalyst that inspired and brought together the creators that formed Shooting Star Comics back in 2001.

Scott McCullar, the Creative Director of Shooting Star Comics, had this to say, “It is with a proud sense of excitement that Chuck joins Shooting Star Comics to launch his own imprint in order to do the type of projects that he is personally vested in as a comic creator. The brand of books that Dixon is working on will be the type of tales readers have been wishing to see the storyteller tell with no holds barred.”

The first will be his creator-owned project, AKOTA, WARGOD OF THE LOST. This black and white five-issue mini-series, illustrated by Sergio Cariello (IRON GHOST), is a barbarian adventure story about the first people to cross the Bering Strait into North America 30,000 years ago. It promises to make heads roll.

Also, Chuck Dixon tackles a fan-favorite character from the public domain of the Golden Age of comics with AIRBOY '42: BEST OF ENEMIES. It's a Golden Age Airboy adventure telling the story of how Airboy first met Valkyrie. With beautiful World War II aerial action as drawn by Lito Fernandez (BIRDS OF PREY) in a Golden Age art style reminiscent of Frank Robbins, this will be a full-color prestige book to hit the stands during the first quarter of 2006.
