24-Hour Comics Day Moves to October
Per the 24-Hour Comics Day blog, the event that challenges creators to finish a comic book in 24 hours will move to the Fall next year so as not to conflict with Free Comic Book Day. Mark your calendars for Oct. 7, 2006:
I know this will come as a bit of a surprise for folks who were expecting another April date. However, we were running into problems with April. 24 Hour Comics Day is the second biggest holiday on the North American comics retailer’s calendar, but the biggest holiday (Free Comic Book Day) is in early May. The proximity of the two events was causing problems for some event hosts. In addition, most comic book conventions are in the spring and summer, creating other conflicts. And some schools found that the April dates were landing problematically close to finals. The October date should allow more stores and schools to host events.
The Beat has more info on the move.
