The Week at the Curve

Week of July 24, 2005

Coming to you belatedly due to both my ridiculous weekend work schedule and my grandmother's 90th birthday (as well as a record week in Curve posting demanding a great deal more contemplation on my part), here is the abridged week in comics as seen at TGC for the week of July 24, 2005. Now get set to get messy.

For starters, let's just roll up our sleaves and dive right into one of the busiest topics in comics of the last week--conventions. With Comic-Con International 2005 subsided and left to the history books now, Comic-Con International 2006 is already bubbling and demanding note on your calendars. Other convention dates and parties are also making demands, though this blogger is presently content to withhold commentary and watch everyone else's posts to see what plays out. And just check out this thread from Mike Wieringo's take to see a little microcosm of the larger debate.

Other less flameworthy highlights of the week included a great Newsarma interview between our very own Alex and some boys from Dreamwave, an absolutely incredible claim that Kevin Smith has finished Spider-Man/Black Cat, and a couple of new net launches now out in the mix by Paul Dini and Joey Manley.

Millar followers such as myself (yeah, that's right, throw the vegetables at me now if you like) were treated this week to the second issue of his new monthly online mag. I'll tip my hat to Alex and echo that you should definitely check out the Hitch/Lee interview.

And that's the nutshell recap for the week. I'll see you around the Curve this week and right back here next Sunday when I arrive home from Wizard World Chicago.
