Swords and Ideas
Good to see Jason Henderson making the right decision in regards to Sword Of Dracula Season 2:
"Henderson said the colorist has been selected, but did not want to announce him just yet. The artist on the series will be Terry Pallot, who has already committed to all six issues of Season 2.
Terry is a Canadian artist I worked with first on Soulcatcher when he was inking Lou Manna, but Terry had a very interesting style that fit the military craziness of SoD, very clean and yet very black-heavy, and it was an almost perfect middle ground between the hyper-realistic art [original artist] Greg Scott did - and does, whenever he does an SoD story - and William Belk's crazy manga-esque art. So I wanted Terry back, but in keeping with the new discipline - I think of it as ‘The Way of the Kirkman,’ I wanted to make sure I could lock Terry in for all six. Six Issues, one season, one year."
I really liked the first issues of Season 1, but the changing artists on the series really grated on my nerves. Really. And for it to have been an unknown title by an unknown creative team and to have no stability going for it besides covers by Tony Harris and story by Jason Henderson was not a good thing.
So I'll be checking out the sequel and hope that I like Terry Pallot's artwork. Still like the concept.
Speaking of concepts...

Did you read Ed's great post about ideas?
Lots of gems there. And lots of good points in his preceding remarks.
My favorite ideas are #9: "Two people are on a cross-country trek from California to New York. One has Tourrette's. The emphasis is on language, both printed and spoken, and how we communicate."
#12: "Family goes on daytime talk show pretending to be dysfunctional, but the experience ends up adding real dysfunction after the cameras stop filming."
#15: "A crime scene clean up crew starts committing crimes to get more business."
#16: "Three fast food franchises engage in industrial espionage."
#27: "A couple (one atheist, one Christian) struggle with hope and faith, as well as understanding one another, after the loss of a child."
#28: "Man moves to Whittier, Alaska to die in relative seculusion, but becomes involved with the community (a strange one, where 90% of the population lives in one giant building) before he dies."
#29: "An Afghani woman struggles with her family in her attempts to become a journalist now that she's legally able to do so."
#33: "Father discovers his son is a professional hitman in the week leading up to his daughter's wedding."
#34: "A forensic linguist is called in to discover the identity of a serial killer, but finds something oddly familiar in the notes left behind."
#43: "A small group of people take to breaking and entering to fund their non-profit group under the rationalization that the ends justify the means, but most become enamored with life as criminals."
And #46: "Guy develops superpowers, but refuses to use them because he thinks they're a sign of the devil."
I'm going to list some of my ideas like Ed has done. Ed is my hero. I love Ed. We need more Ed.
Ahem.

I may get these in trades. It comes down to the art for me and Deodato and Doran just don't yank the money out of my wallet.
And the same can be said about DC in June. Why the hell does Batman look like he's flying like Superman? I don't know who this Seth Fisher guy is but he needs to get it right if he's going to do it at all. Geez.
Heh.
I know that this will be on Graeme's very short list. Eh. Not really for me.
None of that appeals to me, to be honest.
Oh well.
