USA Today eyes Halo's violent move into comics
USA Today looks at Microsoft's expanding Halo empire -- specifically, the graphic novel Bungie Studios is producing with Marvel Comics.
"A graphic novel was the perfect way to expand upon the game fiction with interesting stories, while further exploring the rich palette and art style of the Halo universe," Bungie's Brian Jarrard told the newspaper. Jarrad apparently is the graphic novel's executive producer.
The article dips a bit into the creative and pitch process, detailing how Bungie connected with creators and, eventually, Marvel.
And although I have no idea who the Elites or the Flood are, artist Simon Bisley contributes, by far, the best quote in the story: "I love the textures and colors, especially the metallic Elites against the very spongy organic Flood. The best of all ingredients: steel, flesh, blood and bones, all struggling against each other in a poetic but extremely violent ballet."
"A poetic but extremely violent ballet"? That's beautiful.
The 128-page Halo Graphic Novel is due in stores July 12.
