Kyle Baker provides art for X-Men: Fairy Tales #2

Marvel has provided us with artwork from X-Men: Fairy Tales #2, which features some pretty cool artwork from recent Glyph award winner Kyle Baker.

Issue 2 features an X-Men reinvisioning of the ancient African tale "The Friendship of the Tortoise and the Eagle," featuring Xavier as the tortoise and Magneto as the Eagle.

Check out some of the pages:

In addition, Marvel reports that the first issue has sold out. Per the press release: The first issue of X-Men: Fairy Tales, the series combining mutants and cultural myths and legends, has sold out at Diamond.

"Once upon a time, when I had the original idea of doing X-Men Fairy Tales, I never would have imagined it would have been this well received,” says writer C.B. Cebulski. “Waking up to news of a sell out just makes my day. My heartfelt thanks go out to all the fans and retailers, as well as the fine folks at Marvel, who took a chance on this book and helped make X-Men: Fairy Tales the success that it is. It's good to see this story ends happily ever after."

Cebulski also hinted at possible stories in the future. "It's great to see that the combination of these timeless international fairy tales and classic Marvel stories are being embraced by readers of all ages. Who knows? Maybe the Avengers are next in line for a series of storybook retellings!"

That Eagle and Tortoise picture reminds me of the two Johnny Hart characters from the strip 'B.C.'.
