Writer tussles with DC Comics over book's name

We haven't seen a good legal spat in a while: The New York Post reports that lawyers for DC Comics have sent writer Andrea Grant a cease-and-desist letter, telling her she can't call her comic book Minx because the publisher holds the trademark for the title.

"We must insist that you refrain from using 'Minx' as the title of, or as a prominent part of the title of, your upcoming comic-book series," the Post quotes an attorney as writing.

The Minx, by Peter Milligan and Sean Phillips, was published in 1998-99 under DC's Vertigo imprint.

Grant said she isn't fazed by the letter. "I'm fighting this," she told the newspaper. "Minx is a great name, but it's also a common noun. It's in the dictionary."

Apparently she has no idea how trademarks work.
