Boomerang to feature 24-hour Superman marathon

Have you been jonesing for a healthy dose of Bruce Timm-era DC Comics animation? Well, you're not alone. Luckily, relief is on the way.

To gear up for the June 30 premiere of Superman Returns, Boomerang is rolling out a 24-hour marathon devoted to the animated adventures of the Man of Steel.

Kicking off at 6 a.m. June 24, "Superman Saturday" will feature non-stop, commercial-free episodes from Superman, Batman Beyond and Justice League -- all spotlighting the Last Son of Krypton. (In case you're wondering, Superman appeared in two episodes of Batman Beyond. Yeah, I didn't realize that, either.)

"Superman is the ultimate comic book hero," Boomerang's Marc Buhaj said in a press release. "He was created at a time when much of the world was suffering from the rise of totalitarian governments and the effects of the Great Depression. As a defender of the innocent and the powerless, Superman became a global icon. His story and resulting adventures have been depicted repeatedly over the years in comics, in motion pictures, on live series television and, of course, in animation. We're thrilled that we can celebrate the newest Superman feature film project with a salute to the very best of the award-winning animated series produced by Bruce Timm."
