Seth Fisher update

Tommy Yune over at Gutter Zombie gives an update on Seth Fisher's memorial service and a scholarship being set up in the artist's name:

I returned from Seth's memorial service in Coronado this past weekend. His departure really came in from left field and many of us who knew him still haven't been able to soak all this in. I was part of a circle of artists who knew him from his game design days in San Diego before he left to pursue his dream at DC Comics.

I was surprised to discover that Anne, the wife of Phil (a groomsman at my own wedding), had been lifelong friends with Seth since growing up in South Dakota. We all regretted that we didn't keep in touch more since getting together at last year's Comic-Con. Anne's emotional eulogy was both emotionally draining and uplifting as it captured the essence of Seth's colorful, but brief life. We envied his quirky approach to art. It was all so simple to him.

A memorial scholarship is being established in his name for promising art students from his native South Dakota. Seth's original artwork is also going up for sale with proceeds going towards his wife Hisako and his young son Toufuu.

Check out http://www.floweringnose.com to make a donation to his family. Artwork will be available for sale soon.
