CBLDF launches eBay auction to support Gordon Lee case

At Wizard World Texas earlier this month, I sat in on a "sketch auction" to benefit the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund. As Tony Moore, Mike Norton, Chris Moreno and Tone Rodriguez took sketch requests from the crowd, CBLDF executive director Charles
Brownstein talked a bit about the fund's recent work, including a case in Rome, Georgia they've taken on behalf of retailer Gordon Lee.

Lee is facing two counts of violating Georgia's unconstitutional Unlawful Dissemination of Nudity/Sexual Conduct law, as well as five counts of Distributing Harmful to Minors Material for accidentally distributing a copy of Alternative Comics #2, a free comic book day comic that depicted artist Pablo Picasso in the nude.

This Thursday the CBLDF legal team will argue at a hearing on motions to dismiss charges against Lee. To support the court costs, the Fund launched seven eBay auctions this afternoon. Items offered include All Star Batman & Robin #1, the RRP Variant edition signed by Jim Lee & Frank Miller, CGC Graded 9.8; original Jonathan Luna Spider-Woman art; original Jaime Hernandez Hopey art; Hellblazer #27 signed by Neil Gaiman and Dave McKean, and more.

CBLDF membership dues and donations are tax deductible and serve the cause of free expression. They also make a great gift, as would any of the auction items, especially this beauty (which I would be happy to find under the tree next month, hint, hint):

And if you don't see something you like up for auction, check back in a few days ... they'll be adding more items over the next couple of weeks.
