Return of the Mask

Classic Media and Dynamite Entertainment announced today a new ongoing comic book series featuring the Lone Ranger. The agreement also allows Dynamite to publish previous Lone Ranger comics material.

Per the press release, the Lone Ranger was "an early, long-running radio and television show about a masked cowboy in the Old West, righting injustices, usually with the aid of a clever American Indian called Tonto." The Lone Ranger was created by George W. Trendle and written by Fran Striker.

"To be able to include such a powerful, iconic character to our growing stable of comic book projects is an honor beyond words," explained Dynamite Spokesperson J. Allen. "We've talked with two big-name creators now about this project, and hope to announce their involvement in a few short weeks. Once the script and first cover are in, we will solicit. We're taking the character back down to his roots, and giving fans their first look at an incredible hero. When you think about it, he is the original masked man! Truly, the first super-hero!"
