"Donnie Darko" director to pen GNs

Richard Kelly, director of cult classic "Donnie Darko," announced Tuesday that he would be writing a series of GN prequels to his upcoming film, "Southland Tales," which will star "The Rock" and "Buffy" alum Sarah Michelle Gellar.

The operation is in tandem with View Askew Productions and Graphitti Designs.

Here's how the IGN story describes the film:

Set in the future -- 2008 Los Angeles, to be exact -- Southland Tales examines an America about to collapse under social and economic hardships. It looks to be just as bizarre as Kelly's best known work, Donnie Darko.

If it's anything close to "Darko," and the art holds up, I'm there.
