Hunter's Eisners

Here's my thoughts on what interests me or I at least am slightly familiar with. I will not be addressing each category so do not ask about them. All decisions are hereby declared sacrosanct and contain therein more weight than the Koran, The Holy Bible, or the United States Constitution.

Best Single Issue (or One-Shot)
Global Frequency #12: “Harpoon,” by Warren Ellis and Gene Ha (WildStorm/DC)

Best Serialized Story
Tough one. Either Astonishing X-Men #1-6: “Gifted,” by Joss Whedon and John Cassaday (Marvel) or Ex Machina #2-5: “State of Emergency,” by Brian K. Vaughan, Tony Harris, and Tom Feister (WildStorm/DC)

Best Continuing Series
Gah! Astonishing X-Men, by Joss Whedon and John Cassaday (Marvel) or Ex Machina, by Brian K. Vaughan, Tony Harris, and Tom Fesiter (WildStorm/DC)

Best Limited Series
No doubt. WE3, by Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely (Vertigo/DC). And why THE HELL was WANTED nominated for an Eisner.

Best New Series
Crap on a stick! Astonishing X-Men, by Joss Whedon and John Cassaday (Marvel) or Ex Machina, by Brian K. Vaughan, Tony Harris, and Tom Fesiter (WildStorm/DC).

Best Writer
Has to be Brian K. Vaughan. None of the other nominees holds a candle to him.

Best Penciller/Inker or Penciller/Inker Team
Frank Quitely, WE3 (Vertigo/DC). Hell yeah.

Best Painter/Multimedia Artist (interior art)
David Mack, Kabuki (Marvel)

Best Coloring
Laura Martin, Astonishing X-Men (Marvel); Ministry of Space (Image); Planetary (WildStorm/DC); I Am Legion: The Dancing Faun (Humanoids/DC)

Best Lettering
Todd Klein, Promethea; Tom Strong; Tom Strong’s Terrific Tales (ABC); Wonder Woman (DC); Books of Magick: Life During Wartime; Fables; WE3 (Vertigo/DC); Creatures of the Night (Dark Horse)

Best Cover Artist
Frank Quitely, Bite Club; WE3 (Vertigo/DC), though it's tough to not choose James Jean.

Talent Deserving of Wider Recognition
Sean McKeever (A Waiting Place; Mary Jane; Inhumans; Sentinels). Sure, why not.

Best Comics-Related Periodical
Ok, someone please tell me why The Comics Journal is not on this list?? Forget the rest of it.

And just so you all know where I stand concerning Michael Turner being nominated for an Eisner for Best Cover Artist:

MICHEAL TURNER IS NOT AN EISNER AWARD-WINNING COVER ARTIST! WHEN COMPARED TO ARTISTS LIKE JAMES JEAN AND FRANK QUITELY, THE VERY IDEA OF TURNER BEING NOMINATED IS AN INSULT TO THE ENTIRE COMICS INDUSTRY!

That is all.
