Best of WizardWorld LA

Once again, my TGC press pass and plane ticket got sent to the wrong address (that's gotta be the reason I didn't go right?). Anyway, I combed Newsarama.com and grabbed the best bits of info.

Superman:

In Adventures of Superman, the big upcoming storyline is the unmasking of the villain Ruin. His identity will lead to complications that will have a ripple effect throughout the DCU.
----
Asked if artist (and former Superman writer) John Byrne is aiding with the writing of Action, Simone said Byrne has been very supportive and once in a while will have some questions or suggestions, but she is writing the book solo and Byrne is fine with that.
----
July will start a crossover "mega-story" that will begin in Superman, continue in Action, then in Adventures, and then conclude in Wonder Woman. Brainaic, Darkseid and Ruin will appear.
----
As examples he said in All-Star Lois and Clark are not married and Superman was Superboy in this youth.

Morrison explained he’s going to play with the fun elements of the Superman mythos from different eras spanning different continuities, including his own. Solaris the Tyrant Sun from his DC One Million will appear.

His idea of the title is that he’s telling the folktales of Superman the stories highlighting the parts of the Superman mythos people will remember in a hundred or 500 years.

All-Star Superman will be a 12 issue run, at least in regards to Morrison teaming with Quitely. The writer said 12 issues are all Quitely can handle before his head explodes. Those 12 issues will tell their whole story, but Morrison added he’d like to do more and has come up with another 8 stories already.

DCU:

Bill Willingham said lot of characters people haven’t seen in a while will appear in his 6-issue limited series Day of Vengeance, including Ragman, Blue Devil, Nightshade, and Night Master. And the Phantom Stranger makes an appearance.
----
Willingham also revealed the series introduces a new team to the DCU whose intelligence officer is Detective Chimp.
----
Gail Simone said Villains United is all about the bad guys. "It has sex, violence ,and Poison, so what else can you ask for?" she inquired rhetorically.Simone explained all the villains of the DCU band together but six hold out, including Deadshot, Cheshire and a revamped Catman.
----
Speaking about June’s 4-issue DC Special: The Return Of Donna Troy by Phil Jimenez, José Luis García-López and George Pérez, Didio told attendees to notice that the panelists were couching what they were saying about the project very carefully, and not saying much. He explained once Countdown hit, a lot of what DC is doing will be seen and understood in greater depth and detail. He added the book is great looking and will help them in a way "rebrand" the DCU.
----
In June’s JLA #115, Geoff Johns and Allan Heinberg’s 5-part story spinning out of Identity Crisis begins and explores and deals with what was revealed to have happened to Batman. Heinberg said there are several unresolved issues that as fans he and Johns wanted to explore, so they’re picking up on some of the threads Brad Meltzer left.
----
JSA Classified spins out of JSA #75 and begins with a 3-part Power Girl storyline, written by Geoff Johns and illustrated by Amanda Conner & Jimmy Palmiotti. The story will reveal more about/clear up Power Girl’s origin a bit.

Marvel:

In case you missed it earlier, writer Paul Jenkins revealed he is working on a new Sentry series, to be drawn by fan-favorite John Romita Jr.

Jenkins, who created the character in the 2001-2001 limited series and specials told us the new series will be set in present day pick up on threads began in New Avengers.

Again, this will be an 8-issue limited series and is not an ongoing series.
----
Finally, before getting to new business, there were conflicting reports last evening as to whether Warren Ellis was creating a new "t-e-a-m" or "t-e-e-n" book for Marvel. Newsarama is pleased to confirm it is indeed a new "TEAM" book as we reported last night.

Speaking about that project, Quesada said it will feature a mix of existing and new characters. He called it very unusual and, "nothing like you’ve ever seen before."
----
Ghost Rider by Garth Ennis and Clayton Crain is a 6-issue Marvel Knights limited series, but Quesada said a continuation of the series or another series is likely to follow.

There's a lot of good stuff coming out soon, what are you looking forward to?
