Does the Bell ring true?

Before the possibility of a Wonder Woman feature film was being whispered in the bowels of Hollywood there was fan discussion about who might don the golden tiara. But now that Buffy the Vampire Slayer creator Joss Whedon is officially onboard as writer and director, the speculation game is in full swing.

My choice to play Diana is gorgeous J.A.G. star Catherine Bell. Thanks to her half-Iranian heritage she possesses the exotic beauty that Wonder Woman should have, given her Amazon culture and the location of Themyscira. Bell’s role as a Marine investigator on J.A.G. demonstrates her ability to portray a woman of mental and emotional strength. According to her Website profile, Bell also participates in a variety of athletic activities. She has been kickboxing for over 10 years and has a passion for extreme sports such as skydiving and mountain biking.

I’m sure Joss Whedon already has some women in mind for Wonder Woman, but for my money Catherine Bell best embodies all the key characteristics of the Amazon princess. Some other names being tossed around the internet are Buffy and Angel alum Charisma Carpenter, Blade: Trinity’s Jessica Biel, Chicago star Catherine Zeta-Jones and Matrix Reloaded beauty Monica Bellucci.
