Comics on Campus
As a student at Purchase College in Purchase, New York, I was pleased to discover there existed a society, a league, nay, a club, devoted to the world of comics. Taking their name from a similar group in the indie comic Teenagers From Mars, the Comic Book Liberation Army seeks to disseminate sequential storytelling material to the rest of the campus. Alas, the club ain't all that it's cracked up to be, as there's only like eight members and too few of them actually keep up with freshly released comics to merit fun discussions. However, the club does get a bit of funding from the library, allowing them to purchase TPBs and graphic novels. Last week, they fielded suggestions about what comics should be added to the collection. I suggested the Mark Waid penned Fantastic Four trades, Runaways in digest form and the second volume of The Greatest Superman Stories Ever Told. All my ideas got voted down though, as the rest of the club has no God damn taste. But it does allow us to play a fun game. In the comments section, guess as to what you think is already in the collection, and in a few days, I'll post a complete list. Keep in mind that I go to an art school, so it's not all awesome stuff from DC and Marvel.
