PAD on Hulk as regular writer
Newsarama (via FanBoy Radio) is reporting that writer Peter David will be the regular writer on Hulk for the foreseeable future, based on sales of his first issue back on the series.
PAD sez:
I’m going to be staying beyond the end of the current six issues that have been announced. Sales have been strong enough that I’m going to be on the book at least until the end of the year. Plus, they want me to do a four-issue Abomination limited series, so that’s some stuff that I’m going to be doing.
Unfortunately, things aren't looking as rosy for David's other regular title, DC's Fallen Angel, which will end with #20:
It’s really strange,” David said. “They [DC] embarked on this promotional thing where they gave away thousands of copies of a reprint of the first issue. It did so well in terms of stirring interest in the book that they decided to continue the series to issues #19 and #20. But now, I have been informed that they are not planning on continuing the series past issue #20, even though we don’t have orders in yet for issue #19. So I’m left scratching my head, and wondering what in the heck is going on.
The problem is, after you see review after review that says, ‘This is the best book you’re not reading.’ I read the reviews, and I focus on the ‘best book’ part, and DC, understandably, focuses on the ‘not reading’ part. What it really comes down to is that sales on the book are somewhere around 11,000, and for the book to be profitable for DC, it’s got top be around 15,000. I think that DC just simply doesn’t believe that the book is going to jump 4,000 copies with #19 and #20. So they’ve said they’ve basically not planning to continue the book.
