All Kim Considered

NPR's got a great piece (available as streaming audio as well) about Ignatz/Eisner/Harvey (take your pick) Award winner Derek Kirk Kim and his work. Kim's style encompasses all the emotional complexity and idiosyncracies of niche cultural situations as well as Adrian Tomine, but with a flair for clean simplistic style and more manga-influenced attention to exaggerated facials. I'd call him an up and comer, but I think he's already beyond that.
