Waid's No Dummy

Mark Waid talked to Newsarama.com about the double-printing of word balloons in Legion #1. Waid's disapointment with readers is hard to ignore:

The point of the “double-bubble” pages was a little deeper than just to show dialogue, Waid explained. The characters having the conversation, as more astute readers caught on, were in the same room.

“That's the point that polite society has sunk to - people would rather talk to one another electronically even if they're in the same room,” Waid said. “Really, not much of an extension of today's world, where just yesterday I saw two kids text-messaging each other while clearly close enough to talk.”

Can't say I'm reading Legion though I know some of you are. Be honest, did you pick up on this?
