Tart your engines

The December issue of Sequential Tart is out. Here are some of the highlights and lowlights:

13 Questions with Len Wein

Not a very exciting read, to be honest. I don't think many of Wein's answers go beyond two or three sentences, if that. Obviously done over e-mail or IM. Don't believe me? Here's a chunk of the 13 Qs:

8. Best thing about comics right now?

I like the variety of different stories.

9. What do you hope to be working on in the future?

I would like to write more comics.

10. What character that you helped create are you happiest with?

It would have to be Wolverine and Swamp Thing again.

Still awake? If not, check out this depressing endnote to the piece:

13. What else would you like to say?

I am a valuable commodity and I feel like I am being wasted.

Talk about a downer. Len Wein is being wasted. This guy deserves to be a writer or editor somewhere. Aren't editors supposed to be experienced enough to guide the writers? Who else is more qualified?

Slave Labor Pro Roundtable

ST talks to a bunch of SLG creators to get the lowdown on why they love the company so much.

Scott Mills, Creator
Seamonsters & Superheroes

Maybe I'm a little biased, because Slave Labor was the first comic book company to publish me (waaay back in an anthology called Toxic Paradise), but I've really enjoyed working with them on Seamonsters & Superheroes.

They generally take a hands-off approach in terms of editing and graphic design, which has allowed me to grow as an artist. I'd never really designed my books cover to cover in the past. But at the same time they're always available with any and all kind of help and support I've needed in the process.

Hands-off editing isn't always good, but when the comic is yours and yours alone, you don't want anyone else telling you what to do with it. Kudos to SLG.

As far as the interviews this month, can't say any one name jumped out at me. I'll update if that changes in the next few days.
