Get Some Action
Check out Comics Continuum for some killer previews. They've got Transformers Generation One #10, Transformers The War Within: The Age of Wraith #3, and Action Comics # 822. Okay, so the Transformers books may or may not be killer, but the art looks good. I haven't even looked at a Transformers books since the big 80's nostalgia boom. For me, the bright spot here is Action Comics, a book that I find more entertaining than Azzarello and Lee's Superman. I know Chuck Austen doesn't have the best reputation in comics, with subpar runs on JLA and X-Men, but his Superman work has been fantastic. He's brought back Gog and Preus, made Jack Ryder, Clark's replacement at the Daily Planet, an interesting character (I'm hoping to see a little more Creeper action), and written issues that are connected, but not so entrenched in his own story that new readers can't jump on and understand what's going on. Oh, and the Ivan Reis pencils don't hurt either. I'll admit I was nervous when I heard that Austen was taking over, but he's doing a bang up job with Supes' personal life, especially the interactions with the SuperFamily and the women in his life, Lana and Lois. Hopefully this isn't just a flash in the pan for Austen, but a turn for the better.
