Sure, the numbers are bad, but these figures are great

I was just thinking, "You know what would make my Lost obsession even more intense? Action figures!"

(Warning: Possible spoilers ahead.)

Okay, no I wasn't. But somebody at McFarlane Toys apparently was.

USA Today reports McFarlane & Co. is creating figures based on the cast of the hit ABC show. Series 1, featuring Jack, Kate, Locke, Charlie, Hurley and Shannon, is due out this fall. Other characters will come later.

Wait. Shannon?

Fans can also expect figures of other dead characters, including Boone, Libby, Ana Lucia and Ethan.

The figures have a suggested retail price of $15 to $20 each. On the downside, they'll speak sound bites from the show, such as Hurley's "Stop. Wait. The numbers are bad!"

Oh, Shannon's dead is she?

Cheers for that, mate. No spoiler warnings or anything.

Rose is the Bad Wolf, BTW. 8-)

Heh. Sorry, I forgot the overseas market is a season behind.

So, do they ever start giving answers in the show? I quit watching after the beginning of this season when I realized that we're never going to get any real answers, only more questions.

There have been some answers, and the Season 2 finale tonight promises more.

But that's the nature of serial fiction, and even more so "mythology" shows, isn't it? Once you get the answers, you're left with something like Twin Peaks, which completely fell apart after they told us who killed Laura Palmer.

With Lost, I don't try to solve the riddle(s); I just enjoy the ride.

I just think they would work better as maxi-series. 2 Years a series with finite endings would work well for this type of show. That would allow you a major season 1 cliffhanger and a major climax for season 2.

You do have to wonder if a)they have a Plan (versus a plan) for the overall series ... where it is going, how it will end, etc. and b)if this Plan exists, will it be changed when they reach the crucial point of revealing everything/sending everyone home/whatever happens at the end because ABC wants to suck another season out of it.

I liked the finale. What's up with the giant four-toed foot, though? Was that a Simpsons reference? :)
