Dragon Ball Z concludes this summer
An era comes to an end this summer as the Dragon Ball Z manga series reaches its conclusion.
Dragon Ball has transcended the comics page to become an international phenomenon, spawning anime, video games, merchandise and more. Akira Toriyama's manga was serialized in Japan from 1984 to 1995 in Weekly Shonen Jump. The series was released in the United States as Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z in 2000. In 2003, Viz Media used the serialized Dragon Ball Z to launch its Shonen Jump anthology.
To mark the end of the series, the July issue of Shonen Jump will feature special coverage, including a preview from the final volume of Dragon Ball Z, and an interview with Akira Toriyama.
“It’s an exciting but poignant occasion for our company, with this manga giant finishing its monumental run,” Shonen Jump editor-in-chief Yumi Hoashi said in a press release. “We’re pleased to be giving DRAGON BALL Z a substantial celebratory send-off befitting of its stature within our company and among readers worldwide!”
