Professor knits super hero threads

An art professor at Arizona State University's Herberger School of Fine Arts knits super hero costumes in his spare time:

Around 2000, Newport introduced knitting to his students and, shortly thereafter, began using the process to create his own superhero costumes based on characters like Daredevil, Iron Man, Batman, and even The Escapist, a character from the Michael Chabon novel "The Adventures of Cavalier and Clay."

"I did the Fantastic Four," said Newport. "It's actually based on Reed Richards, the guy who stretches, so that one's 10 feet tall and the arm are at the right size, but the legs are too long."


He's also created a Rawhide Kid costume. "I wish I could knit you ..."
