Graham Nolan, Master of the Future

Yesterday was veteran comics artist Eduardo Baretto's debut on the venerable newspaper strip Judge Parker:

It was a nice surprise for this JP reader, who was having a hard time telling the characters apart, and now predicts great things for the strip's future.

However, at least two people couldn't have been surprised, namely colleague Graham Nolan (who now draws Rex Morgan, M.D. and the Sunday Phantom) and an unnamed Washington Post reader from Severna Park, Md.:
Severna Park, Md.: [...] If not you, what other comic artist would you recommend to continue the Judge?

Graham Nolan: I like Harrold's [LeDoux, the then-current artist] slick style. I think Eduardo Baretto would be great on a strip like Judge Parker.

That was from May 16, 2003.

Spoooky....

The new art work on "Judge Parker" and "Rex Morgan, MD" surprised and annoyed me. It's too harsh. These are the only two of my soap operas that are left in our Los Angeles Papers. Too bad!
