Last Week at the Curve

We're coming to you a little late with this week's recap, due to the long holiday weekend and way too much time in the sun.

The week ended on a sad note, as we found out legendary artist/animator Alex Toth passed away at his drawing table on Saturday.

Last week saw a lot of attention focused on Tom's list of the greatest DC characters. Heck, even Tom's list of "also rans" garnered quite a few responses. And as you might expect, the list wasn't without controversy. Some people thought the characters on the list were too obvious, while others complained about the one unobvious choice that made the top 20. Whatever the case, people had a lot to say! Props to Tom for all the hard work he put into this.

A little film called X-Men: The Last Stand opened in theaters this weekend, bringing in $107 million. The media was in full force last week, with articles on not only on the movie and the stars, but even the comics themselves. Our daily "X-Fever" feature attempted to summarize many of those articles; here's an index of X-posts, movie-related or otherwise, in case you missed them:

And with Superman Returns on the horizon, we kicked off a featurette called Kryptonite Bites that will keep an eye on the Man of Steel's news coverage, just like we've done with the X-Men.

Last week saw the return of Michael May's Heroes & Villains feature. He followed up with another one this past Sunday. Welcome back, Michael!

And lastly, we bid farewell to longtime contributor Brian Cronin of 20 Questions fame. Brian and the Comics Should Be Good team, his other group blog, moved to Comic Book Resources this week, and we wish them the best at their new home. So long, Brian, and thanks for all the questions!
