Fullmetal Alchemist tops BookScan, hits USA Today

Viz Media's Fullmetal Alchemist Vol. 7 took the #100 spot on USA Today's best-seller list, which tracks all genres and formats, and shot to the top of the BookScan chart for graphic novels sold in bookstores, ICv2.com reports.

Death Note Vol. 5, also from Viz, reach #126 on the USA Today list and #2 on BookScan.

BookScan's Top 10 graphic novels for the week ending May 7:

  1. Fullmetal Alchemist Vol. 7 (Viz)
  2. Death Note Vol. 5 (Viz)
  3. Rurouni Kenshin Vol. 26 (Viz)
  4. Tsubasa Vol. 9 (Del Rey)
  5. Naruto Vol. 9 (Viz)
  6. Kingdom Hearts Vol. 3 (Tokyopop)
  7. Fruits Basket Vol. 13 (Tokyopop)
  8. Black Cat Vol. 2 (Viz)
  9. V for Vendetta (DC Comics)
  10. Naruto Vol. 1 (Viz)
Forty-seven of the Top 50 spots on the BookScan chart were held by manga, ICv2 notes, with just three places going to non-manga: V for Vendetta (#9), Bart Simpson's Guide to Life (#46) and Watchmen (#49).
