E3 Report: Saturday May 13

E3 is winding down and it looks like Nintendo stole the show. But what about some more news on comic properties? Don;t worry, we have some for you.

To start, here is a look at Top Cow's The Darkness from 2K Games.

"One of the games being shown behind closed doors at 2K Games' corner of the Electronic Entertainment Expo is an impressive-looking supernatural shooter called The Darkness, which is in the works over at Sweden-based Starbreeze Studios. Coming to the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3, The Darkness is based on the comic book of the same name, which is all about a mafia hit man who happens to gain some sinister and extremely powerful abilities. The demo being shown at E3, which is running on a 360 dev kit, shows off some of these powers. It also showcases the game's great-looking visuals and character graphics, in addition to some interesting stylistic and creative touches. While the game still has a way's to go, what's on display at E3 is definitely promising."

  • The Great Curve's JK found the website for Marvel: Ultimate Alliance at http://www.marvelultimatealliance.com.

Gamestop took a sneak peek at Ghost Rider, a third-person action and motorcycle driving game slated for February 2007, continuing the storyline from the upcoming Columbia Pictures/Marvel Studio’s movie, Ghost Rider drops players into the role of Johnny Blaze. Even though it's release coincides with the release of the Nicholas Cage Ghost Rider movie, the game appears to have a comic influence.

The game itself appears to be more specifically based on the comic book version of Ghost Rider than the live-action film. There was little evidence of any film influence, celebrity voice actors, or anything of that nature. So for those who prefer their comic-book games purely based on the comic book, and not a film-license version, Ghost Rider ought to be more up your alley.

Ghost Rider is slated for the PS2, PSP and Xbox.

  • Sci-fi Wire wrote their impressions of Justice League Heroes. Lots of screen shots from the game are now available, and the new trailer and wallpapers can be found at www.justiceleagueheroes.com

For the first time since 2002, a new Turok game is in the works from Buena Vista Games. The press release reads as follows:

Turok is an epic, story-driven FPS game set on a dark, mysterious planet in the near future. Players take on the role of Joseph Turok, a former Black Ops commando, now part of an elite Special Forces squad on a mission to take down a war criminal on a genetically-altered planet. After the ship is shot down while approaching the planet, Joseph Turok must use his instincts and elite military training to elude an army of well-trained soldiers, and the ravenous, unpredictable creatures that populate the dangerous environment. Joseph Turok's mission? Survive at all costs.

The new Turok game will be produced for the PS3 and the Xbox 360. It is slated to be released in 2007.
