Little Lit collected
Puffin Books will release a collected edition of the Little Lit books later this year:
Françoise Mouly and Art Spiegelman have teamed up again, along with Puffin, for two forthcoming projects, Big Fat Little Lit and Toon Into Reading.
Big Fat Little Lit, slated for release this fall, consists of excerpts from all three of the Little Lit books published earlier this decade by Joanna Cotler Books at HarperCollins.
Brought together with the help of Penguin sales rep Mitch Kaplan, Spiegelman and Mouly met with Eileen Bishop Kreit, v-p and publisher of Puffin, to discuss new ways to interest children in reading. According to Kreit, they decided that comics would be the best medium for serving that purpose; a decision that Spiegelman and Mouly partly based on the experience of teaching their children to read with the help of Bill Watterson's Calvin and Hobbes comic strip.
The collection will feature stories by Neil Gaiman, Spiegelman and many others. Check out Publisher's Weekly for more information. You can also check out the Little Lit home page for more info on the previous anthologies.
