20 Questions For You All For the 3/1 Comic Week
I am sure there are some spoilers involved in the following 20 questions. Feel free to answer or not - some of them ARE rhetorical, after all...
1. Which of this week's One Year Later comics did you like best?
2. Taking Detective out of the equation - same question...which of this week's One Year Later comics did you like best?
3. Did you feel bad for Fin Fang Foom at the end of Nextwave #2?
4. Why does Marvel solicit the book as Next Wave, but have Nextwave on the indica (and have Ellis refer to it as Nextwave)? Are they just trying to drive me insane?
5. How cool was it to see Tony DeZuniga drawing a comic book again (this week's Jonah Hex)?
6. Speaking of Detective Comics, I can't be the only one who finds it a bit disquieting to see a book that appears to be designed as, "Yeah, yeah, we know - all those changes were dumb" (even if that's a sentiment I agree with), can I?
7. When will the five-part Bullock: Rebirth come out? You know Johns has it in him.
8. Could you come up with a lamer explanation for Jason Todd's resurrection than this week's Batman Annual? Please, I'd like to hear it.
9. Which was a worse resolution to a mystery - Hush or Identity Crisis?
10. Was the "Badass quotient" of Ultimates 2 #10 enough to make up for the dearth of actual story in the issue?
11. How freaky was it to see Untold Tales of the New Universe: Star Brand be an actual good book?
12. How well do you think Terry Moore handled David dealing with impending death? I love it when Moore puts his whole ass into the comic.
13. Speaking of Strangers in Paradise #80, though, "Woodward Bernstein"?!!? What a weird, weird joke. What was the point of naming a character Woodward Bernstein?!?
14. Can you name five cool NHL hockey player names for Brian Azzarello to use in his next comic book?
15. Is Sonic X, like, Ultimate Sonic the Hedgehog? If so...that's kinda weird, no?

17. Who wins in a fight - Bleu Finnigan or Clover Connelly?
18. Who wins in a fight - Fin Fang Foom or Godzilla?

8 Comments:
3. I always do.
5. [---------------------------------] this cool.
6. I'm just glad to see comicbook where the characters don't display mindnumbingly stupid behaviour like .. say.. Captain Atom's current mini?
8. Robin Lad from the Legion of Superhero Sidekicks went back from DC 1Million and was killed instead of the real Jason Todd. The real Jason Todd though was kidnapped at the same time by Lex Luthor from Earth-19, who wanted to recreate his planet from all the missing left socks in the universe. He enslaved Jason, who became the Red Sock Collecter, leading to a fight between Jason and the League of Baseball Gentlemen where he was finally freed from Luthor's control and went back to Earth, only to find that Batman had replaced him with a newer, prettier Robin. Heartbroken he became the Red Hood.
9. Identity Crisis. Hush was just mindnumbing stupid.
11. Not so much, Starbrand had a lot of untapped potential.
15. No he's like Megaman X, who is like Ultimate Megaman.
19. Cling Clang Crank
20. Red Ronin
1. Detective Comics.
2. Aquaman.
3. Yes.
6. I was a little surprised to see both Gordon and Bullock back in their old jobs. I could have lived with Gordon as Mayor and Akins still police commissioner.
7. Seriously, I think that has to be part of Montoya's story in 52, so you're pretty close.
8. "It was all a dream."
9. "Hush," because (SPOILER ALERT!!!) Tommy Elliott was so obvious from the beginning I thought he was a red(-haired) herring.
"19. If you had to create a giant robot designed to fight Fin Fang Foom, what would you call it?"
Tin Tang Tums: he would shoot spinning tums and Napalm Tang onto those in his path.
1. Detective
2. Aquaman
3. Nope, I laughed.
4. It's personal. They just don't like you.
6. Nope I'm fine with it. The whole IC series was designed to fix things that went wrong along the way.
7. I don't think he'll stoop that far. Though he'll be in 52 I bet.
8. Yep, I could. Just don't explain it at all. Ever.
9. Hush
10. Sure. I enjoyed it.
LIGHTNING ROUND!!!
16. Goon
18. Zilla
19. Super Ape Ninja Pirate Bot Go!
20. You can't beat a super ape ninja pirate bot, are you crazy?
1. Untold Tales of the New Universe: Star Brand.
2. Hack/Slash: Trailers.
5. I dunno, the last time I saw him pencil something- Iron Man #275- it was pretty hideous. Didn't check it out.
6. Welcome to the DCU, Brian.
7. It's the comic Chuck Dixon was born to write, baby!
8. Checkmate body switcho!
9. "Hush", I think, because it was more about Loeb's contempt for his audience's intelligence. IdC was about Meltzer's contempt for women.
Neither story would have gotten out the starting gate as is in the other media that both have worked in.
10. What I wanna know is, what's it gonna take for something GOOD to happen to the Black Widow, in either universe?
11. I loved it. Second favorite comic of the week.

YES! GOSH!
8. Could you come up with a lamer explanation for Jason Todd's resurrection than this week's Batman Annual? Please, I'd like to hear it.
Nope. That was a slap in the face. Here's a trick, try reading it without the captions. It gets better, much like the 'reading Garfield without Garfield's dialogue' trick. I mean, not a LOT better. Just better.
9. Which was a worse resolution to a mystery - Hush or Identity Crisis?
Identity Crisis.
10. Was the "Badass quotient" of Ultimates 2 #10 enough to make up for the dearth of actual story in the issue?
Haha, I'm not actually sure. I was thinking the same thing. It was *INTENSE* without anything really happening.
19. If you had to create a giant robot designed to fight Fin Fang Foom, what would you call it?
M.O.D.O.K.F.F.F.
Dean, that MODOK joke was the funniest joke I ever heard that required people to actually know what MODOK stands for.
