Joe Kubert School on CBS Evening News
CBS Evening News will broadcast a short segment on the world famous Joe Kubert School of Cartoon & Graphic Art, Inc., at 6:30 p.m. ET on Friday, March 31. This is part of the "Assignment America/Steve Hartman Reports" together with two other story ideas. Viewers will have the chance to vote for one of the three story ideas on www.cbsnews.com. Their decision will then be developed into a full segment for broadcast on Friday, April 7.
The teaser features student and teacher interviews, as well as classroom candids depicting the demanding training program for which the Kubert School is known. There may also be brief interviews with cartoonist Joe Kubert as well as Adam and Andy Kubert, artists for Superman and Batman respectively. All three of the Kuberts also teach at the school.
Interest in the school was sparked by a recent AP release (Feb. 13). The story was picked up by such newspapers as the NY Post, the Philadelphia Inquirer, the Washington Times and the NJ Star-Ledger. There was also a segment on WABC Eyewitness News, a NYC-affiliate of ABC on Feb. 17.
