Michael Oeming announces Zardoz ... ?
Well, with April Fool's Day approaching, I'm a little suspicious of ANY news that comes out over the next few days. Hell, Spin has already started with a fake review of the new Guns'N'Roses album.
So I approach this announcement with a bit of skepticism. Michael Oeming posted on Newsarama that he has acquired the rights to Zardoz, a 1974 science fiction film starring Sean Connery:
I've been working on this deal for quite some time, and keeping it under my hat has been difficult. I've been working on the script for about a year now, and have shared it with a few respective friends and professionals. Im not sure if I'll be drawing the series, but clearly I'll be writing it and doing the covers. I'll begin production just after my next two creator owned projects, the Cross Bronx, which is just about finished and then Mice Templar. After that is ZARDOZ!
What is ZARDOZ? Zardoz is a truly bizarre 1974 film by John Boorman following up his film Deliverance. ZARDOZ stars Sean Connery as a hunter killer trapped in a paradise run by immortal psychics who have inherited the earth after an apocalypse. Its a psychedelic trip of Mad Maxx, ACID, sex and mythology.
You can read more about the film here. The only place I've seen anything about this is in the Newsarama forums; Oeming hasn't even posted it on his own site yet. So you have to wonder ...
EDIT: Wonder no more.
