Report from the "Big Show"

Today saw the debut of a new column on Newsarama from The Great Curve founder and DC Comics publicity manager Alex Segura on his first week at his new job:

The first thing you learn when you step into DC is that things move fast. It’s very easy to get lost in the details: The magnificent Metropolis cityscape painting you see as you step off the elevator, the rows and rows of classic comic book covers framing the walls of each hall and office, was that Will Dennis I just saw in the elevator? – it’s a lot to digest, and it’s hard for someone that grew up devouring every comic in site to just shrug and keep on keepin' on. In short – there’s never a dull day here, especially if you love comics. And it’s great to know that most of the people around me feel the same way. Or maybe I’m still a deluded newbie blinded by the stack of free books. Let’s hope not.

My role as Publicity Manager (and that of my boss David Hyde and our Publicity Coordinator Sierra Hahn) is to let fans know about the exciting stuff DC, Vertigo, WildStorm and CMX are putting out each and every month. Whether it’s a new project like Brad Meltzer and Ed Benes’ upcoming Justice League of America or the gut-blasting, rollercoaster ride that makes up a new Vertigo title like the Exterminators. Stuff is happening. Good stuff. From super-heroes to quiet, character-driven human drama, DC has arguably the most versatile and eclectic collection of titles for a major publisher.

Everyone here at The Great Curve offices wishes Alex the best in his new role ... and we patiently await all the free comics he promised before heading to the Big Apple.
