A Comics Panel with Ware, Seth and Brunetti

Peoria-based cartoonist Gordon McAlpin has undertaken the task of creating a functioning comic strip out of the recent panel by Chris Ware, Ivan Brunetti and Seth at the Columbia College in Chicago, Illinois. Brunetti acts as moderator and ring leader into getting these two revered cartoonists to talk about their work and it's effects on them.

While at first glance, McAlpin's adaptation might seem like a perfunctory exercise, it quickly develops to offer new insight not contained in the original speaking engagement. Using a variation of Seth & Ware' style to depict the scenes, McAlpin illustrates this event in an upfront way that adds to the content. Although one can't be sure if these allusions are in keeping with Ware, Seth & Brunetti's original intentions, it is an interesting development in the medium of comics.

Ivan Brunetti tells me that Chris Ware would never have a TV in his living room. My credibility as a cartoon journalist is shot. :)

Thanks for the mention, by the way.
