20 Questions For You All For the 1/18 Comic Week
I am sure there are some spoilers involved in the following 20 questions. Feel free to answer or not - some of them ARE rhetorical, after all...
1. How many of the slaughtered heroes in Infinite Crisis #4 did you even know?
2. Do you think there is anyone out there who said, "OH CRAP, THEY KILLED BUSHIDO!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!"?
3. My pal Michael pointed this out to me, "In Infinite Crisis #4, Johns failed to remember that Monsieur Mallah lost his ear in Villian United and thus continuity is negated forever." Do you think if he learned that, Geoff Johns' head would explode?
4. If you had a choice, which Hulk would you like to read? Classic Hulk, Messed-up, Silent Hulk, Joe Fixit or Professor Hulk?
5. Do you read the Funny Pages in the New York Times Magazine?
6. If you DON'T, but DO read the New York Times Magazine, what's the deal?!?!
7. If you could have Dead Girl bring back ONE Marvel hero from the dead, who would it be?
8. In All-Star Superman #2, do you think Superman was admitting that, in the past, he WAS mean to Lois by tricking her, but now that he is dying, he wanted to put an end to that?
9. After finding out that Manhunter is related to the Golden Age Atom, is it possible in the DCU NOT to be related to a hero somehow?
10. Did you read this week's Hellblazer? I liked it.
11. Do you think that Cassandra really died in the latest Batgirl?
12. What was the last "Final Issue" of a long-running title that was less satisfying than the last issue of Flash this week?
13. How does it make sense to do the first 9 or so chapters of "The Other" with having variant covers for the second printings, then suddenly making the variant covers a "Buy one for every 15 issues ordered" thing? Isn't that kinda, well, lame?
14. Would you like to have the Titanic in your living room?
15. Anyone else pleased by the news (due to his appearance in Blue Beetle #1) that Guy Gardner WILL be making it out of Infinite Crisis alive?
LIGHTNING ROUND (BETTER DEPICTION EDITION)!!!!

11 Comments:
2. Sadly enough, yes.
3. Coming in 2007: M. Mallah: Aural Rebirth.
4. Peter David's Professor Hulk.
8. Yes.
9. Depends -- let's look at this new Blue Beetle's family tree. I'm still holding out hope for the new Firestorm, too.
12. I'm waiting to see how Rucka winds up Wonder Woman, but Flash should have ended with "Rogue War."
14. Yes, once it had been fumigated.
17. Plastino.
18. Colan.
7: Jack Kirby
"17. Win Mortimer or Al Plastino: Whose depiction of Superman do you like better?"
This is just cruel, kinda like asking me which I'd rather do, poke my eye out with a knife or with a spork? I'm just saying.
Oh, my answer is Mortimer.
True, Shelly, but it wouldn't be fun if it was with the GOOD ones!!!
Heh, yeah. The choice just brought back some old nightmares from my youth, y'know? The pain just never really goes away. :)
1. How many of the slaughtered heroes in Infinite Crisis #4 did you even know?
Hmm, I read one comic with Pantha in it, I vaguely know of Wildeebeast, I recognized Risk but couldn't name him till I went online, Bushido was a complete mystery. Was that all of 'em?
2. Do you think there is anyone out there who said, "OH CRAP, THEY KILLED BUSHIDO!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!"?
I was wondering that myself, I mean, I know some people actually like the Titans, but they don't like exceptionally shitty ones like Bushido, right?
3. My pal Michael pointed this out to me, "In Infinite Crisis #4, Johns failed to remember that Monsieur Mallah lost his ear in Villian United and thus continuity . After finding out that Manhunter is related to the Golden Age Atom, is it possible in the DCU NOT to be related to a hero somehow?
is negated forever." Do you think if he learned that, Geoff Johns' head would explode? Hopefully
4. If you had a choice, which Hulk would you like to read? Classic Hulk, Messed-up, Silent Hulk, Joe Fixit or Professor Hulk?
If I have a choice, no Hulk.
5. Do you read the Funny Pages in the New York Times Magazine?
I start reading it, but quit.
6. If you DON'T, but DO read the New York Times Magazine, what's the deal?!?!
They're boring. Tell me a story, I don't think a lack of hot water or running out of coffee makes for good storytelling.
12. What was the last "Final Issue" of a long-running title that was less satisfying than the last issue of Flash this week?
I'm betting JLA #125 will be.
13. How does it make sense to do the first 9 or so chapters of "The Other" with having variant covers for the second printings, then suddenly making the variant covers a "Buy one for every 15 issues ordered" thing? Isn't that kinda, well, lame? Yes, but it ain't the lamest thing about The Other
15. Anyone else pleased by the news (due to his appearance in Blue Beetle #1) that Guy Gardner WILL be making it out of Infinite Crisis alive?
Yep
18. Kelly Jones or Gene Colan: Whose depiction of Batman do you like better?
Kelly Jones is prolly the worst artist out there, so I'll say Colan
19. John Romita or Steve Ditko: Whose depiction of Spider-Man do you like better?
Romita Sr. is awesome, love his stuff
20. John Romita Jr. or Alex Maleev: Whose depiction of Daredevil do you like better?
They are both pretty crappy
1. I recognized Pantha and Wildebeast. Wasn't sure if Wildebeast was killed or not. The others I didn't recognize.
2. Who is Bushido?
3. Didn't know this. Doesn't take away from the story for me.
4. Huh!!!
8. Looking forward to reading this series, haven't started yet.
9. Everyone is related to somebody.
Well, I reviewed the Infinite Crisis issues 1-4 at my blog the Unofficial DC Comics Review and although there are spoilers I present some conjecture there also.
1. I remember Pantha and Wildebeast from their (crappy) run in Titans; they won't be missed. Seeing Pantha beheaded was worth price of admission.
Never had anything against Risk or Jurgens run on Titans; the main complaint people had about it was that it wasn't Robin & co. If he's dead, I doubt he'll be missed.
2. Never saw Bushido before this issue. I only know his name because he appeared on the cartoon recently.
3. Possibly. Hopefully he's wearing a hat when that happens to minimize damage to those around him.
Continuity is a harsh mistress.
4. She-Hulk
5. No
6. Um, no?
7. Bill Jemas
8. I fund A-SS #2 to be fairly unreadable, actually.
9. Atom is related to Martain Manhunter? When did he do the hibidy jibidy with an alien?
10. Yes.
11. Yes ...why would DC trick us like that?
12. Power Man & Iron Fist, when Iron Fist died and Luke was framed for murder. I was depressed for weeks.
13. Lame, Marvel, very lame!!!!
14. I do ... every time I unzip.
15. Ass holes never die.
16. Paul Smith
17. Win Mortimer
18. Gene Colan
19. John Romita
20. John Romita Jr.
1. Not enough, I suppose.
2. There always is. However, if you let the fact that someone whines over a minor hero keep you up at night, you need more help than he or she does.
3. He knows, he knows.
4. Well Written With Original Ideas Hulk.
5. No.
7. None. But if she can bring Shayera Thal back, I'd appreciate it.
8. Yeah, but... he didn't tell her he was dying. SuperWAID!
9. No.
10. No.
11. Yes.
12. Definitely "The Final Chapter" storyline that ended the Spider-titles in '98.
14. Sure!
15. I had a feeling he would. I think Johns has a soft spot for him.
16. Paul Smith!
18. Gene Colan!
19. Steve Ditko!
20. JRJR!
2. Well I guess kids who saw him on Cartoon Network and liked him would be upset, but hey! Kids don't read comics anymore, so no one.
Now Wildebeast...Why, God!?! WHY?!?
3 Murderous Ultimste Hulk. I no longer buy Banner refusing to take responsibility for himself anymore.
10. They are still putting that out? Wow
11. Batgirl died the day some fool at DC decided not only to give her a voice, but thought she could carry a monthly.
10. Did you read this week's Hellblazer? I liked it.
Not yet.
16. Paul Smith or John Byrne: Whose depiction of Kitty Pryde do you like better?
Smith
19. John Romita or Steve Ditko: Whose depiction of Spider-Man do you like better?
Romita
20. John Romita Jr. or Alex Maleev: Whose depiction of Daredevil do you like better?
Maleev - JRJR is rather overrated
