Building a better Batman

IGN has the scoop on the newest comic hero to make the jump to LEGOS, as Batman joins Luke Skywalker, Spider-Man and Harry Potter as the latest property to be transformed into building-block goodness:

The latest issue of LEGO's free club magazine has a one-page teaser for a brand new series of Batman toys. The print ad shows six classic Bat-Villains: The Joker, Two-Face, Mr. Freeze, Catwoman, Penguin and Killer Croc. Each appears modeled after Batman: The Animated Series. At the top of the teaser, amidst the swarm of bats, is the Dark Knight himself.

Check out the LEGO website teaser.

Not for nothing, but I don’t think that Spidey is licensed by Lego anymore, but by Mega, which makes similar-styled (compatible) building blocks. I say this as all of the new Spidey sets I’ve seen are from Mega, and the last several Lego catalogs I’ve received, no longer feature any Spidey sets.

However, none of these new sets reflect tie-ins with the films, so perhaps Lego is licensing the films and Mega is licensing directly from Marvel. Again, this is just a guess on my part.
