Viacom Buys Dreamworks, Case Calls For Time Warner Breakup
Viacom, the parent company of Paramount, has agreed to purchase Dreamworks, the media company co-founded by Steven Spielberg. One interesting detail is that the purchase does not include Dreamworks' animation studio, which created the Shrek films.
Going in a different direction, Stephen Case, a co-founder of AOL, has called for the breakup of Time Warner(parent company of DC Comics) into smaller companies. His plan for division would have broken up the company into four units: cable, magazine, tv and film, and AOL. Quite a reversal for one of the architects of the AOL, Time Warner merger.
