Joshua Hale Fialkov begins "blovel"
In honor of National Novel Writing Month, comic writer Joshua Hale Fialkov (Elk's Run) has accepted the challenge of writing a 50,000+ word novel before the end of November.
"I've spent most of my life terrified of writing straight prose, and I've decided that it's about time to conquer that," Fialkov said in an email.
Fialkov has already posted the first two chapters and a cover by Chuck BB of IDW's Secret Skull to his "blovel," the weblog of his novel.
"I'm using a character that I have been developing, called The Miller, as the 'star' of the books. He's sort of a 1940's man of mystery type, living in Steel Mill infested Pittsburgh. The novel is a murder-mystery (aren't all good pulps?) and I have a pretty good handle on where it's going, and it's going to be a fun ride."
